Warriors of the Sea
These warriors have developed ways of utilizing different kinds of vegetables, herbs and spices, which, when cooked correctly and eaten as appropriate to the climate and the body, provide the principles of eating "food as medicine" or traditional health from the inside out.
Southern Thai people love foods with strong taste-turmeric, long pepper, krill and salt are some of the ingredients that are almost always included in typical southern thai dishes and served with rice or rice flour noodles. A unique feature of southern fare is the "phak noh" or side vegetables that help enhance the flavors, reduce the spiciness and boosts your health. The phak noh are made from the buds or sprouts of plants such as the lead trea, young jackfruit, bael fruit, olive, string bean, cucumber and explants, with the most famous being from the sataw (parkia speciosa).

The Center of Siamese Culture and Folk Wisdom
Thai people in all parts of the country use massage as a way to treat basic ailments. Each region has its own method of massage, beginning with a unique Knowledge to that area and then spreading out via an educator (usually a monk) who collects and arranges the knowledge for the next generations to study and develop upon. This resulted in a wide variety of techniques being employed and it was not until King Rama III had the foresight to officially record them in stone and place them in Wat Pra Chetupon so that they could be studied, was there any standardization of techniques adopted.
The basis of Thai massage today is that of Nuad Ratchasamnak ( or Royal Thai Massage) and Nuad Chaloeyseuk ( or Folk Thai Massage), with Nuad Chaloeyseuk being practiced in 100% of spas across the kingdom, while Nuad Ratchasamnak is practiced in only a few spas, due to the length of training involved and the strenuous demand it places on the practitioner.

Wisdom of the Smile Land
Although the commonly accepted understanding of SPA is more Often associated with Europe, Thailand has deep rooted culture and traditions that are intrinsically linked to an age old world of SPA and traditional healing practices. Thai people had long understood the life giving qualities of water, yet have remained respectful of this essential gift from MotherNature. Central to this and just as important today as it was traditionally, is the culture there family member qenuinely care for each other and across the generations, children are asked to massage limbs, shoulders, or even to step on the legs and backs of their elders in a practice that not only helps to ease aching muscles, but also creates a family bond, while encouraging the younger members of the family to be helpful.
